The toolbar settings are stored in the registry so that it is possible to customize the toolbar to suit a particular need or usage style. The current installation mechanism will automatically reset the tools bar if an upgrade installation is detected.
However, once in a while, after installing a new version of the Visual Environment your tool bar settings could become corrupt. The symptom is that your tool bar come up looking differently or not functional properly. (e.g. missing tool bar icons,
clicking on a command causes the Visual Environment to crash or causing wrong command being invoked)

Here are some steps that can be taken to resolve such issues:

1. Navigate to tools->customize->toolbars

Tool bar customization dialog

2. un-check the broken toolbar
3. click on the "reset" button
4. re-check the broken toolbar

The tool bar should now be reset with the correct settings.

Note: The tool bar will not reset if the toolbar is being displayed (the selection check box is checked.)
